The Anointed Series
by Jacob Weldon
The First King
The First King is an engaging and immersive narrative on the life, wars, bonds, and struggles of King Saul and his heir to the throne.
Divinely chosen to be the first king of Israel, Saul of Gibeah deeply fears he is inadequate for the task at hand. As his people struggle on the brink of war, King Saul is forced to lead or watch as they become enslaved at the hands of surrounding enemies. Vastly outnumbered and ill-equipped, King Saul is left with few alternatives.
Lion of Judah
The second book in The Anointed series picks up years after the Battle of Michmash, when the Philistine army has recovered its strength.
Tormented by insomnia and plagued by nightly terrors, King Saul fears he has lost his divine favor and evades battle with the Philistine champion and giant, Goliath. King Saul is elated when an audacious young shepherd named David emerges to fight in the name of Israel’s God. His improbable, seemingly divine victory wins David both the unwavering support of the warrior Prince Jonathan and the jealousy of the mad King Saul.
