Indie Discoveries
Outstanding Books Don’t Go Unnoticed
During judging, our panel may also identify additional outstanding submissions for inclusion in Indie Discoveries, DartFrog’s curated recommendation program featuring exceptional independently published books.
Books selected for Indie Discoveries are promoted to the members of our Indie Discoveries group (currently 3050 people), as well as through our website, newsletter, and social media channels, helping deserving books reach new readers even when they are not selected as the seasonal winner.
Eligibility
The Book Club Prize is open to independently published books.
- Books must be published in English.
- Books must be available for purchase through either Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or another major online retailer at the time of submission. Books available for pre-order are also eligible, provided their publicly listed release date falls within the submission guidelines.
- Authors or publishers must own or control the rights necessary to enter the competition.
- Previously submitted books that were not selected may be resubmitted in a future competition.
- Employees, contractors, judges, and immediate family members associated with DartFrog Books or Bookclubs.com are not eligible.
How it Works
The Book Club Prize accepts submissions during four seasonal entry periods each year.
At the conclusion of each competition:
- One winning book is selected for the Book Club Prize.
- Additional outstanding books may be selected for Indie Discoveries.
- The Book Club Prize entry fee is $75.
Entry Calendar
Fall Competition
Submissions: Oct 1-Dec 31. Winner named Jan 20. Promotion begins Feb 1.
Winter Competition
Submissions: Jan 1-March 31. Winner named Apr 20. Promotion begins May 1.
Spring Competition
Submissions: Apr 1-June 30. Winner named July 20. Promotion begins Aug 1.
Summer Competition (Now Open)
Submissions: July 1-Sep 30. Winner named Oct 20. Promotion begins Nov 1.
How is this different from the Great Indie Reads promotion?
Great Indie Reads is designed for authors who prefer rolling consideration rather than waiting for a quarterly competition or competing for a single winner slot. Books are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and selected authors are invited to participate in the Great Indie Reads program.
The Book Club Prize offers a low-cost opportunity to compete for the same promotional package through a quarterly competition. It is an excellent choice for authors who are willing to wait for the next judging cycle in exchange for the chance to win a Great Indie Reads promotion at a significantly lower cost.
